It was tears for last years World Champions Spain, who missed out on a medal by a whisker.
Poland had got off to a fine start, leading 7-3 at one stage, but the Spaniards bounced back, and the teams were soon level-pegging.
The most nerve-wracking moment came in what appeared to be the last minute, with Spain up 24-23. However, an equaliser from Michał Szyba (later crowned man of the match) saw the clash go to extra time.

The Poles held their nerves, and their victory marks the fourth World Championship medal for the country, after silver in 2007, and bronze in both 2009 and 1982. (nh)
