The Polish player lost the third-round match 4:6, 2:6 and will not repeat her performance of 2012, when she won the Dubai tournament.

The Polish star, ranked No. 8 in the world, was a narrow bookmaker favourite to beat Venezuela-born Muruguza, who ranks at No. 24.

The players had met three times before with two wins to Radwańska’s credit, though she lost the previous match between the two.

Muruguza concluded the match with one of her five aces. (an)
