Legia Warsaw, the Polish football champions, saw their dreams of a UEFA Europa League final in the home city shattered on Thursday night by Ajax Amsterdam through their Polish striker, Arkadiusz Milik.

As thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium due to a UEFA ban after hooligan incidents during the first-leg 0:1 loss in Amsterdam, Legia crashed out to a 0:3 defeat.
20-year-old Arkadiusz Milik, who trialed at Legia as a teenager but was deemed unworthy of first-team playing opportunities, scored two goals to go with the winner he scored in Amsterdam.
Legia originally qualified to Champions League, Europe’s highest club competition, after soundly beating Celtic Glasgow but the result was overturned because Legia brought on an ineligible substitute in the 87th of the second-leg match. (an)
