The 24-year-old, whose on-court clashes are often overshadowed by those of her sister Agnieszka, took a brisk 76 minutes to wrap up her match with the Slovak player.

Her Monterrey success marks her second WTA quarter-final of the year, following on from Auckland in January.

"Yesterday it was pretty hot and the bounce was different, and today was a little bit slower than normal, but I just tried to focus on my game and do my best,'' she said after Thursday night's match.

''Daniela is a great player and I'm happy I could make it through."

At present, the younger Radwańska sibling is ranked 141st in the world by WTA, while Hantuchova is 46th.

2014 was a difficult year for the Pole, whose game was hampered by a shoulder injury.

Radwańska is now set to face Swiss adversary Timea Bacsinszky, No. 4 seed in the tournament. (nh)
