A Polish Radio employee for over a half-century, Tomaszewski continued his work into his 90s: as recently as last year he commentated on a tennis match. He commentated on 12 summer and winter Olympic games.

Tomaszewski died at the age of 93 and was buried at the celebrated Stare Powązki cemetery in Warsaw.

In addition to radio and television work, he wrote books and film scripts, as well as organising a tennis tournament where Poland’s most successful tennis players, the Radwańska sisters, launched their careers. (an)
