Radwańska, who was seeded seventh, lost 7:5, 0:6, 4:6 to 12th-seeded Suarez Navarro.

The first set was marked by a number of breaks, with Radwańska winning three break points and Suarez Navarro two, with Radwańska taking the upper hand after Navarro made a number of errors.

However, the Spaniard bounced back, leading in the second set and winning it despite Radwańska’s climb from 2:5 to 4:5.

This was the fourth meeting between Radwańska and Suarez Navarro. Radwańska had won all three previous matches, with the first taking place six years ago in Toronto. (jb)
