Polish fans, who nearly matched the home team’s supporters in number, set off fire crackers while the national anthems were played.

UEFA said on Wednesday it was initiating action against the Polish football association, PZPN over the incident.

UEFA’s disciplinary committee will also look into the behaviour of the Irish players, five of whom were booked during the match.

The disciplinary committee will hold a session on the issue on 21 May. (an)
