Cyclist Maja Włoszczowska has been announced as one of the ambassadors of the 1st European Games, which begin in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 12 June.

The 31-year-old, who counts golds in both the European and World Championships among her career highlights, has 22 medals to her credit thus far.
She joins distinguished fellow ambassadors including German table tennis ace Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Greek fencer Vassiliki Vougiouki and Danish canoeist René Holten Poulsen.
The games, which take in twenty sports ranging from archery to wrestling, will see about 6000 athletes compete, and they will close on 28 June. (nh)
