Jacek Muzolf, president of the Polish Tennis Association, has insisted that Wiktorowski was not pushed out.

“Tomek has stopped carrying out his function,” Muzolf told the Przegląd Sportowy daily, “but not because we demanded it – this was a sovereign decision.

“Tomek felt tired and burnt out,” he added.

Last week, Robert Radwański, father and former coach of Agnieszka Radwańska, had called on Wiktorowski to quit as personal trainer of his daughter.

His outburst came amid a lacklustre spell for Radwańska, who although still rated No. 9 in the world by WTA, has slipped up in a series of recent tournaments. (nh)
