Polish football chief on 'chaos' after Blatter resignation

Blatter stood down on Tuesday, just four days after being re-elected as president of FIFA for a fifth term as the organisation battles with accusations of corruption.

I see no reason to be sad because I did not vote for Blatter, but it's a shock nevertheless,” Boniek told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily.

The U.S. government indicted nine FIFA officials for racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering last week, but Blatter still managed to win a fifth term as FIFA chief on Friday.

“Perhaps it simply hadn't occurred to Blatter that he is no longer a guarantor of anything,” Boniek reflected.

Maybe he had to sit alone within four walls to grasp that?

Now there's chaos, and we'll see who's put themselves forward for the election.”
