Radwańska took the first set 6-1, but Stephens then bounced back, taking the next clash on a tie-break, 7-6.

However, the Pole kept her nerve and managed to take the decisive set 6-2.

She will face the winner of the second semi-final, with the match due to be played on Saturday between Caroline Wozniacki and Belinda Bencic.

The Eastbourne tournament is considered a warm-up for Wimbledon, and Friday's success is a much-needed confidence booster for Radwańska, who this season fell out of the WTA top ten this season for the first time in four years.

Meanwhile, with the Wimbledom draw held today, it has emerged that Radwańska will face Czech Lucie Hradecka in her first round encounter at Wimbledon this year.

Although Radwańska is currently No. 13 in the WTA ranking and Hradecka No.52, the Czech player has never lost to the Pole in a one on one fixture. Nevertheless, the rivals have not played each other in a singles match in almost a decade. (nh)
