The three-day event ended with world record holder Włodarczyk managing the tenth best women's performance in history, with a throw of 78.24m, winning the event by 9 metres.

“Everything is on track in my preparations for the World Championships in Beijing,” she said after notching up her victory.

“Tomorrow I’ll go back to hard work in training.”

The 29-year-old from Rawicz won gold at the European Championships last year, and silver at the World Championships in 2013.

In the men's event, world champion Paweł Fajdek also turned in a promising performance, with a winning throw of 79.74m.

Meanwhile, shot putter Tomasz Majewski, a former Olympic champion and another medal hope for the Beijing tournament, managed a season's best of 20.80m, winning the event. (nh)
