With the transfer window closing at the end of August, the GBP 10 million-valued midfielder has not played in the first three matches of the Bundesliga season, raising the prospect of a move either to England or Spain.
According to German daily Bild, Real Betis are considering a move for the midfielder but may struggle to match his wage demands. Błaszczykowski reportedly wants an increase on his GBP 1.8 million annual salary.
Before the season began Błaszczykowski got injured and was unable to play in the club’s Asian tournaments and trainer Thomas Tuchel has not played him so far this season. “I don’t rule Kuba out, but he had some catching up to do,” Tuchel said recently.
The 29-year old midfielder was the captain of the Poland national football team when Poland hosted UEFA Euro 2012.
The ex-Wisła Kraków player signed a four-year contract with Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee in February 2007. With Borussia Dortmund he won the Bundesliga title for two consecutive seasons in 2010–11 and 2011–12.
Błaszczykowski debuted for the Poland national football team on 28 March 2006 in a friendly against Saudi Arabia. (jh)
