The Polish men’s volleyball team will play the top standing team, the US, on Monday in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
Australia has yet to make its move in Japan, but Poland was reminded of its 3:1 victory in London at the 2012 Olympic Games.
An attack by Poland’s Bartosz Kurek won the first set. In the second set, Poland began without any problems; however Australia managed to close the gap ending the set merely three points behind. Bartosz Kurek once again shone in the second set, and finished off the match.
After a faulty attack by Australia’s Thomas Edgar in the first half of the third set, the Poles led again (8:2). The final point was played by Poland’s Rafał Buszek.
Friday’s game earned the Polish team 13 points. Poland will now face another team on a winning streak, the US, on Monday. (ua/rg/rk)
