Poland's Lewandowski slashes Scotland's Euro 2016 dream

The Poland team still have a chance of moving on in the ranking after a nailbiting game with Scotland which ended in a last-minute goal by skipper Robert Lewandowski.

Robert Lewandowski managed to get the ball behind the Scottish goalie with only seconds to spare before the final whistle, ending the game 2:2.

The game was exciting from the very first minutes of the match on Thursday at Hampden in Glasgow. Lewandowski scored an early shot in the third minute.

Scotland's Matt Ritchie evened out the score in the 45th minute, before his teammate Steven Fletcher scored another goal in the second half.

As the game neared the end, the Scots had already assumed a win, when Lewandowski broke through the hosts' defence, smuggling the ball into the net.

Poland still have a chance of moving onto the next stage of the game. The next game with Ireland will seal the fate of the Red and Whites. The two teams have 18 points each in the Group D qualifying group. Team leader Germany currently holds 18 points.

The Poland-Ireland game will be played in Warsaw on Sunday 11 October. (rg/rk)
