The three-times world champion has told Polish Radio that he no intention of resting on his laurels, with less than a month to run before the next edition of the world's most challenging off-road event.

My plan is to improve on my results in both Dakar and the World Cup, and by improving I mean being closer to perfection, closer to what is the pinnacle of my ability,” he said.

The Kraków-based racer noted that he wants to radically reduce the number of errors he made in the past.

I have a plan, I will put it into action, and I hope that everything goes my way.”

Meanwhile, the 49-year-old has said that he has no intention of retiring any time soon.

I don't see any age limit at the moment,” he said.

If I feel that I've achieved the maximum that's possible in my life, then I'll finish my career,” he added.

The champion also hinted that he might try another vehicle at some point in the future.

The 2016 Dakar Rally begins in Buenos Aires on 3 January. (nh/rk)
