“I definitely did not imagine that things would turn out like this,” Stoch said after the tournament wrapped up on Wednesday in Bischofshofen, Austria.

“What happened to me over the last few weeks has been a tough lesson and a tough time,” he added.

“In the long term I continue to believe that everything will work out fine. That's why I'm not going to give up and I'm certainly not going to hang up my skis.”

Slovenian Peter Prevc won the tournament overall. “I was nervous, very nervous,” he told German TV station ARD.

“I didn't sleep for three days, but now I'm relaxed and very happy.”

Meanwhile, after Stoch the next highest ranked Pole overall in the 4-Hills Tournament was Stefan Hula in 25th position, then Maciej Kot in 32nd. (nh/pk)
