The Polish star's victory will see her rise up one spot to No.4 in the overall WTA rankings, building on recent successes over the last two months, including victory in the WTA Finals.

I've been playing some good tennis, especially here in Shenzhen this week, and now I have one more match to go to win here,” Radwańska said after wrapping up the match.

The Kraków-born player has won 21 out of 25 of her recent matches, and she is due to take part in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the Australian Open, later this month.

Reaching the final here is great preparation for the Australian Open, and that's a good projection too, Radwanska, a former World No.2, said after being told of the ranking news.

First I'll focus on winning here in Shenzhen, and then I'll just try to play the same tennis in Sydney and in Melbourne.

Radwańska is set to play American Alison Riske in the final. Riske is currently ranked No. 97 by WTA. (nh/pk)
