Tennis: Poles through to second round in Australian Open

Poland’s Marcin Matkowski and Łukasz Kubot have defeated Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and David Marrero 6: 1, 6: 7 (2-7), 6: 3 to advance to the second round of the Australian Open doubles in Melbourne.

The Poles will now take on Czech Radek Stepanek and Canadian Daniel Nestor.

Earlier on Thursday, Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz, playing with Mariusz Fyrstenberg, advanced to the second round of the doubles tournament after beating Argentina’s Federico Delbonis and Guillermo Duran 6: 4, 7: 5. (pk)
