Pole Mariusz Fyrstenberg and his Mexican partner Santiago Gonzalez have advanced to the doubles quarter-finals of the ATP Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco, after beating Americans Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey 6-4, 4-6, 10-6.

Next up for Fyrstenberg and Gonzalez are Filipino Treat Huey and Belarusian Max Mirnyi.

The match looks likely to be a tough call for the Polish-Mexican duo as Huey and Mirnyi defeated the pair last week in their clash at the Delray Beach Open in the US.

Left-hander Fyrstenberg's career best to date came in 2011 when he made the final of the US Open with his then doubles partner Marcin Matkowski. The Polish pair ultimately lost to Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner. (nh/pk)
