Double success for Poles in beach volleyball Grand Slam

Poland enjoyed double success at the International Volleyball Federation's (FIVB) Grand Slam 2016 in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, taking gold in the men's category and silver in the women's.

Piotr Kantor and and Bartosz Łosiak beat home pair Pedro Solberg and Evandro Goncalves 2-0 in Sunday's final.

We really were well prepared for this tournament and – I hope – for the whole season,” Kantor, said, alluding to potential qualification for the Rio Olympics this year.

Meanwhile, Monika Brzostek i Kinga Kłosińska took silver in the women's competition, ultimately bested by Americans Kerri Walsh and April Ross.

We're certainly getting closer to participating in the Olympic Games, but we have to fight for more points,” Brzostek said.
