The Polish Ski Federation said Kruczek has signed a contract for two years, with the possibility of it being extended after that time.
Kruczek was replaced by Austrian Stefan Horngacher as Polish coach in March. Kruczek had led the Polish team since 2008, notching up some spectacular successes.
Kamil Stoch notably won two gold medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. But the Polish squad appeared lacklustre during the last season.
The Italian ski jumping team is not considered one of the world’s top squads, but hopes that some of Kruczek’s past successes will rub off. (pk)
