The team says that its main goal for Giro d’Italia is for Majka to stand on the podium.

Majka, who specializes in mountain bike riding, said: “After months of hard training I can feel the results and I’m happy about my performance on the uphill sections.”

During the tour, Majka will be accompanied by his Polish teammate, Paweł Poljański, whose aim will be to help Majka, especially as the tour passes through the mountains.

Giro d’Italia will last for over three weeks and will end on 29 May in Turin.

Besides the two Poles from the Tinkoff team, Przemysław Niemiec of the Lampre-Merida group and Łukasz Wiśniowski of Etixx-Quick Step will also take part in the tour. (tf/pk)
