“Swimming Australia imposed a mandatory provisional suspension on Mr Zawadka in November 2015 and his sanction has been backdated to take account of time already served. This means he is ineligible to participate, as an athlete or support person, in any sports that have adopted a World Anti-Doping Agency compliant anti-doping policy until 12 November 2019,” Swimming Australia wrote in a statement.

On 11 September, 2015, Zawadka tested positive to the prohibited substances Clenbuterol and Methylhexaneamine following a doping control test conducted by ASADA at the 2015 NSW State Open Short Course Championships in Sydney.

Twenty-seven-year-old Zawadka competed in the 50m and 100m breaststroke. (rg)
