Cycling: Poland’s Rafał Majka fifth in Giro d’Italia

Poland’s Rafał Majka has finished the Italian Giro d’Italia bicycling tour in fifth position, which is the highest for any Polish cyclist in the history of the race.

Majka, leading his Tinkoff team had a good start and fought well through all of the 21 stages of the tour.
“I did my best, the others were simply better this time. I learned a lot during the tour, I know I still have a lot of work ahead of me to win a race like this. However, I am sure I will finally be able to do this,” Majka wrote on his Facebook profile.
It is his best performance in Giro d’Italia and the best for any Polish cyclist ever. Majka ranked seventh in the tour in 2013, and sixth in 2014.
Majka lost 4:37 to the winner, Vincenzo Nibali of Team Astana. (tf/rg)
