The Polish team, led by star striker Robert Lewandowski, face Northern Ireland in the southern French city of Nice on Sunday at 6:00 pm CET.

“We are experienced, we know how to play this game. We are aware of its importance," said Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak ahead of the game.

"If we want to think of a favorable outcome, each of us must be a general on the field – everyone from the goalkeeper to the striker.”

The Poles are playing in their third Euro championships in a row. Poland co-hosted the Euro 2012 tournament in Warsaw together with Ukraine.

Northern Ireland are making their debut in the championships.

Meanwhile, Polish fans in Nice clashed with local hooligans on Saturday. France's NiceMatin website reported that police were called to the scene, with seven people sustaining injuries. (rg/pk)
