Germany boasts the most valuable squad (EUR 580 million in total) of any of the 24 teams competing at the EURO 2016 tournament, with midfielder Thomas Müller alone worth EUR 75 million.

Striker Robert Lewandowski (EUR 75 million) is the most valuable Polish player, accounting for more than a third of the Polish squad’s total value.

Both Müller and Lewandowski play for the German football team FC Bayern München.

Midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak of Spanish Sevilla FC holds second place in the Polish team, with a transfer value of EUR 30 million.

Playing for Italy’s Serie A clubs, Wojciech Szczesny is the most valuable goalkeeper in the Polish team with a market price of EUR 12 million, matched by 22-year-old midfielder Piotr Zieliński.

Szczesny will miss Thursday’s clash with Germany due to a thigh injury.

Centre-back Kamil Glik of Italian Torino, and striker Arkadiusz Milik of Dutch Ajax Amsterdam are also fairly valuable players, worth EUR 10 million each.

Adam Nawałka’s 23-man squad has a collective value of EUR 193.45 million, at an average of EUR 8.41 million per player compared to Germany’s EUR 25.22 million.

Poland is playing against Germany on Thursday 16 June at the Stade de France in Paris at 9:00 pm CET. (ał/rg)
