Poland’s defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak and goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański have both made the Euro 2016 dream team drawn up by British newspaper The Guardian.

Fabiański, of the Welsh Swansea City club, got the nod instead of Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon and Northern Ireland’s Michael McGovern, "because he made more saves during the [EURO 2016 football] tournament," the daily wrote.

Krychowiak, who officially signed for Paris St-Germain from Sevilla a week ago, was praised for "a supremely calm presence at the heart of Poland’s midfield."

After EURO 2016 drew to a close with Portugal’s victory over hosts France on Sunday night, British daily The Guardian listed the best and worst players of the tournament.

The daily has rated each and every performance in France, while taking into account those footballers who played in at least four games.

No Polish name popped up among the EURO 2016 flops listed by The Guardian.

This year’s football tournament saw Poland advance to the quarter-finals, where they lost on penalties against Portugal, the brand-new European Champions. (ał/aba)
