Hammer thrower Paweł Fajdek, one of Poland’s great hopes for an Olympic medal, has failed to make it through the qualification round in Rio de Janeiro.

Fajdek managed a throw of only 72.00 m. However, his countryman Wojciech Nowicki sailed through with a throw of 77.64m.
Fajdek was placed in group A and his result of 72.00 m placed him seventh.
