Radwańska powers through into second round of US Open

Polish tennis star Agnieszka Radwańska has beaten America’s Jessica Pegula in the first round of the US Open in New York.

In a convincing victory, Radwańska, the no. 4 seed, won Tuesday’s game 6:1, 6:1.

The game was the first encounter between Radwańska and Pegula and lasted just 55 minutes.

Pegula made 34 unforced errors, while her Polish opponent made just four. The Pole will now take on Britain’s Naomi Broady.

Radwańska is the last Polish player left in the singles tournament. Magda Linette and Jerzy Janowicz were both defeated on the first day.
