"Three candidates for the post have been officially submitted: Ferdinando De Giorgi, Radostin Stoychev and Daniel Castellani," Polish Volleyball Federation Chief Jacek Kasprzyk told Polish Radio on Sunday, but added that there are also unofficial candidates.

The contract of the current head coach, Stephane Antiga, runs out by the end of December and the Federation has decided not to renew it.

Under Antiga, the Polish team won 68 out of the 100 matches they have played since 2014. But they failed to win a medal at the Rio Olympics.

Kasprzyk said that although Poland won the world championship in 2014 under Antiga as head coach and Philippe Blain as assistant coach, the following years were not so good for the team.

"I think it's not only the fault of the coaches, the players are also a little guilty," said Kasprzyk. (mol/pl)
