Poland's Włodarczyk shortlisted for World’s Best Athlete

Polish hammer thrower Anita Włodarczyk is among ten athletes shortlisted by the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) for the title of the Best Woman Athlete of the Year.

Włodarczyk, 31, has two Olympic gold medals (2012, 2016) and three European Championship titles (2012, 2014, 2016) to her credit.
She is the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80 metres. Her current world record is 82. 98m.
Other nominees for the title include Almaz Ayana (Ethiopia, 10,000m), Ruth Beitia (Spain, high jump), Kendra Harrison (USA, 100m hurdles) and Caster Semenya (South Africa, 800 m).
