The Poles secured an early lead with midfielder Kamil Grosicki netting a goal in the 11th minute.

After a tame first half, the game was interrupted early in the second half when a firecracker thrown from the stands landed on the field, temporarily deafening Poland's star striker and captain, Robert Lewandowski.

The World Cup qualifier had to be suspended for 10 minutes as the 28-year-old striker received medical assistance.

Lewandowski came back from the incident to seal the win for Poland with goals in the 82nd and 90th minutes. The Poles are now in the lead in group E, followed by Montenegro.

The game was the national squad's third win out of four matches played in the qualifying round of the 2018 football World Cup. (vb/pk)
