Witold Bańka said the sports ministry needs to “urgently” rethink the financing of winter sports, cutting money for disciplines in which Poles have not been successful in recent years.
He added: “We only have a few [winter] sports stars, and we really need young talent and child and youth training programmes, a fresh stream of possible future medallists.”
The sports ministry is considering launching a new fund to support physical education among children and young people, Bańka said.
