The two will pair up for the doubles competition at Doha Open tournament in Qatar, which starts on 2 January and is the first ATP World Tour tennis tournament next season.

Murray has twice won the singles title at Doha, in 2008 and 2009.

Fyrstenberg is currently ranked 58th among the world’s best doubles players. He partnered with another Pole, Marcin Matkowski, from 2003 to 2014.

In 2011, the Polish pair reached the finals of the US Open and then finished as the runners-up in the season-ending ATP Finals in London.

Murray has played seven doubles matches this year, winning four and losing three. (str/pk)
