His countryman Kamil Stoch put in a jump of 107.5 metres to move up from 18th position after the first round to sixth in the second round of the men's Normal Hill individual competition.

Austria’s Stefan Kraft came second in PyeongChang, which hosts the Winter Olympic Games next year. Germany's Andreas Wellinger was third.

Kot was in fourth position after the first round. In the final round he soared 110.5 metres, bested only by Wellinger (112m) and Norway’s Robert Johansson (111.5m.)

Stoch stays at the top of the World Cup leader board, but his lead over Kraft has shrunk to just 60 points.

On Saturday, Kot came equal first, alongside Slovenia's Peter Prevc, at a World Cup tournament in Sapporo, Japan.
