The home team dominated soon after kick off, forcing Legia into defence, but no goals were netted before the half time whistle.

Ajax was again quick to take possession of the ball in the second half of the meet, with Dutch defender Nick Viergever scoring a goal in the 49th minute.

With the 1:0 lead, the team from Amsterdam further upped its game but failed to score any more goals.

Towards the end of the game, Warsaw coach Jacek Magiera substituted in Nigerian forward Daniel Chima, who debuted in the Legia jersey.

Last week, the teams faced off in Warsaw in the first match of the round of 32, drawing 0:0.
