The fight will take place on June 24 in Gdańsk, northern Poland.

Adamek, 40, announced he was retiring after losing to America’s Eric Molina in April last year.

The fight took place in Kraków, southern Poland. Adamek was knocked out in the tenth round.

Announcing his return to the ring, Adamek said he “will not be satisfied with a win against someone mediocre.”

He added: “If I am to say goodbye [to boxing], it's with a fight against a strong opponent.”

Haumono, aged 41, has won 24 out of his 29 professional bouts.

“It’s going to be an interesting fight as my opponent is ambitiously pushing forward… If I’m in good health, and it is OK so far, I hope my fans will have a reason to clap,” Adamek told the Polska the Times daily, adding: “I’m not old enough not to see the punches coming”.

The daily also quoted Adamek as saying that he did not want to end his career as he was “missing the adrenaline of the ring.”
