The news comes after 37-year-old former Poland international fulfilled an appearance clause enabling his contract to be extended.

Boruc has made 32 league appearances this season, in eight of which he kept a clean sheet.

"We're really pleased for Artur, he's been so consistent for us and in really good form. He's won us points this season," Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe said, cited by the BBC.

Boruc announced in March that his days as a goalkeeper for Poland were over. He has 64 caps for the national squad.

Boruc was first-choice goalkeeper for Poland during the World Cup in 2006 and in Euro 2008. He won praise for his skills, even though fans moaned about the team’s performance as a whole.

Last year Boruc was called up for Poland duty but only as a reserve.
