Women's volleyball: Poland beats Cyprus 3:0 in world championship qualifier

Poland has triumphed over Cyprus 3:0 its first qualifying meet for the Volleyball Women's World Championships in Japan next year.

Poland dominated the match to win in straight sets (25:14, 25:17, 25:15) before a home crowd of 500 in Warsaw on Tuesday.

The Polish national squad plays its second qualifier against Iceland on Wednesday.

The Polish team will also face group-favourite Serbia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the qualifying round.

Only the top-scoring team in the group will be guaranteed a place in Japan. (vb/pk)
