Olympic gold for Polish weightlifter after rival disqualified for doping

Poland’s Szymon Kołecki has officially been named weightlifting champion at the Beijing 2008 Olympics after a Kazakh competitor who took gold was disqualified for doping.

Kołecki came second in the up-to-94 kg category in China.
But Ilya Ilyin of Kazakhstan, who won the event, was last year disqualified for the use of a banned substance.
On Monday the Polish Olympic Committee received a letter from the International Olympic Committee confirming the change in results from the Beijing games.
