Poland has lost 0:3 to Serbia at Warsaw's National Stadium in their first match of the European Volleyball Championships, which started in Poland on Thursday.

The host country's 0:3 (22:25, 22:25, 20:25) loss was especially painful to Poles, who were hoping for a repeat of the opening match of the last Volleyball World Championships, in which Poland beat Serbia 3:0 at the same venue nearly three years ago.
Poland will play its next games against Estonia and Finland in Gdańsk, northern Poland, in the group round of the tournament. (vb)
