EuroBasket 2017: Poland off to bad start

Poland's national basketball squad has lost to Slovenia 81:90 (22:24, 24:29, 12:21, 23:16) in Helsinki on day one of the European Championships, which run until 17 September.

Poland will face off against Iceland in its next match on Saturday.
It has also been grouped with Greece, France and Finland and will play against each of those teams in the group stage. The top four teams will advance to the knockout stage.
The 40th European Basketball Championships are being hosted by Israel, Romania, Finland and Turkey, after Ukraine declined to hold the event because of its turbulent political situation. (vb/pk)
