"This was our weakest match and I hope that it was the last one like this," said Nawałka at a press conference after Friday’s match. "Why did everything fail? We do not have a good answer at the moment."

He said that now the Polish squad must prepare as best as they can for Monday's match against Kazakhstan in Warsaw.

"We must pick ourselves up quickly. (…) We lost the battle, but not the war," said Nawałka.

The defeat by the Danes "was not a cold shower, it was like a huge bucket of cold water on our heads. (…) I am hoping that the next match will be much better," he added.

Despite the wipeout on Friday, the Polish team are still leading in their qualification group, three points ahead of Denmark and Montenegro. (mol/pk)
