Tennis: Poland’s Linette off to good start in Tokyo

Poland’s Magda Linette beat Japan's Risa Ozaki 6:1, 7:5 on Tuesday in the first round of the WTA tennis tournament in Tokyo.

Linette is 76th in the WTA Tour ranking while Ozaki is 90th.
The Pole will now take on Belgium’s Elise Mertens, ranked 41st by the WTA, for a place in the Tokyo quarter-finals.
Mertens beat Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina 7:6, 6:1 in the opening round of the tournament in the Japanese capital.
