Tennis: Poland’s Linette out of Toray Pan Pacific Open

Poland’s Magda Linette has crashed out of the Toray Pan Pacific Open WTA Premier tennis tournament in Tokyo, Japan after being overpowered by the Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova.

The Pole lost 2-6, 1-6 in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday.
Linette, aged 25, is 74th in the WTA ranking. Pliskova fell from no. 1 to no. 4 in the ranking earlier this month.
Linette was recently trounced by Pliskova 2-6, 1-6 in the first round of the US Open.
The Polish player last year reached the quarterfinals of the Tokyo tournament. (gs/pk)
