In his first interview since his accident, Gollob told sports website przegladsportowy.pl that his health has certainly improved since doctors fought for his life while he was in a coma after the accident, but that spasticity causes him to feel “not himself” and he is in constant pain.

Gollob also said he was grateful to the doctors at the military hospital in Bydgoszcz, in Poland's north, and that he would consider undergoing experimental therapy abroad “if it gave hope of a dignified life”.

Gollob has been released from hospital for a few short stints at home but spends most time being intensively rehabilitated in hospital.

Gollob injured his spine, broke a rib and bruised his lungs in an accident during a training lap ahead of a motocross competition in Chełmno, northern Poland, in April.

He was airlifted to hospital for emergency surgery.

He is yet to regain feeling in his legs. (vb/pk)
