Tennis: Poland’s Magda Linette out of Tianjin Open

Poland’s Magda Linette was sent packing from the Women's Tennis Association tournament in Tianjin, China, after she lost a second-round match to Russian star Maria Sharapova on Wednesday.

Linette was dispatched by Sharapova in straight sets 5-7, 3-6.

The Pole had made it to the second round of the Tianjin Open following a victory over Ukraine's Kateryna Bondarenko.

Linette is to wind up the season at next week’s WTA International event in Luxembourg. (aba/vb/gs)
