President Andrzej Duda on Thursday officially opened the first indoor speed skating track in Poland.

Duda described the ice arena, in the central town of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, some 110 kilometres southwest of the capital Warsaw, as the "absolutely top” facility of its kind in Europe.
He added that track was an example Poland's ability to construct modern, ambitious facilities.
The arena cost over PLN 47.6 million (EUR 11 million, USD 13 million) to build, with the Ministry of Sport and Tourism pitching in over PLN 19 million in funds.
Zbigniew Bródka, a top Polish speed skater and a 2014 Olympic champion, has hailed the arena as “a milestone in the development of Polish speed skating.”
Until now Polish speed skaters have complained of being forced to train in facilities abroad.
