Ski-jumping: Bad day for Poles in Bad Mitterndorf

Kamil Stoch, the golden boy of Polish ski jumping, failed to shine at a World Cup competition in Austria on Saturday but maintained his top spot in the overall classification.

Stoch finished a distant 21st. Stefan Hula was the highest placed of the Poles competing in the event in Bad Mitterndorf, finishing 14th.

Saturday's competition was won by Norway’s Andreas Stjernen, with his countryman Daniel Andre Tande second and Switzerland’s Simon Ammann third.

Stoch now has 733 points in the overall classification, ahead of Germany’s Richard Freitag, on 711.

Stoch last week won the 66th Four Hills tournament, becoming the first Pole and the second person ever to win at all of the competition's four venues.
